Pieces Left Behind in Monterey & Carmel: From Research Pathways to Repositories Lecture and Donor Appreciation Brunch
The Friends of the Monterey Public Library invite you to a Donor Appreciation Brunch featuring Library Director Inga Waite and Julianne Burton-Carvajal, Ph.D., UCSC Professor Emerita, on Monday, September 23, 2019, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Library Director Inga Waite will provide a report to donors and share exciting news about the future of the Monterey Public Library.
Dr. Burton-Carvajal’s program re-traces a research and curatorial trajectory spanning two decades (1998-2018) during which the greater Monterey region’s hard-to-rival heritage offered up a score of intriguing individuals and structures from across four centuries.
The event takes place at the Monterey Plaza Hotel, Ocean Club Room, 400 Cannery Row, Monterey, CA 93940.
Julianne Burton-Carjaval: In addition to authoring a number of books, monographs and articles on aspects of the history and art history of the Monterey region and beyond, Julianne has served as Editor of three historic journals: Noticias de Monterey, the California Mission Studies Association annual and, for the National Park Service and the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro Trail Association, Chronicles of the Trail. She is currently Consulting Historian and Curator of San Miguel Chapel in Santa Fe’s Barrio de Analco—both National Historic Register properties entering their fifth century of existence.
Cost: Tickets are $50 per person. Admission is complimentary for 1849 Society Members and guests.
