Double Nickels Luncheon for those 55 & Up! Sept. 11
Jeff Ohlson, historian with the Carmel Valley Historical Society, will speak at the Double Nickels Luncheon for those 55 & Up on September 11, 2019. The luncheon begins at noon at Church of the Good Shepherd, 301 Corral De Tierra Rd, off Hwy 68 between Monterey and Salinas.
Ohlson will speak about “A History of Ranching in Carmel Valley,” based on his book of the same title. He will discuss the Valley’s ranches, cowboys and cowgirls, roundups, brands and branding, roping and rodeos. Did you know Carmel Valley road was once a bustling path to bring cattle to market?
Having spent some years as a volunteer at the Carmel Valley Historical Society and the History Museum, Ohlson is an outstanding storyteller. He has curated exhibits, and authored and published several histories about Carmel Valley. He is regarded as a knowledgeable ranch and cowboy specialists and Carmel Valley historian.
Ohlson came to Carmel Valley with his wife following a career with The Boeing Company. After receiving his Aeronautical Engineering degree, Ohlson spent 38 years in Boeing’s Commercial Airplane Flight Deck design and Flight Crew Operations department.
Double Nickels, a monthly luncheon of homemade food, is a service of Good Shepherd for the benefit of the 55 & Up community. A donation of $5 is suggested but is not required. For more information about the luncheon, call 831-484-2153 or visit goodshepherdcorral.org.
