LET IT RAIN Daylong Mindfulness Meditation Retreat Sun. May 5, 9:30 -3:30 Aptos, CA Teacher: Carla Brennan Registration Required. (You will be sent additional information and directions after you register.) For students experienced in mindfulness meditation. The RAINy season isn’t over yet! During this day of mindfulness we will meditate together in silence as well as be guided in an awareness process called RAIN. RAIN offers a step-by-step approach to applying awareness to painful and uncomfortable inner experiences. It is often our disturbing feelings (both physical and emotional) that we struggle against and resist, causing us increased difficulty and unhappiness. In other words, when we resist what we feel, we create suffering. RAIN helps us welcome our feelings and offer compassion. RAIN can also incorporate a “benefactor” practice by bringing to mind images and memories of those who have related to us with caring and kindness. This helps us learn to be compassionate toward ourselves. RAIN is NOT a psychological healing exercise, although it may have psychological benefits. It is a profound practice of courageous presence with life as it is. The four steps of RAIN will be discussed: Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture. We will also apply these principles of RAIN to our silent meditation. WHO THIS IS FOR: This retreat is for people who already have an established mindfulness meditation practice. You are invited to register whether you are familiar with RAIN or are new to it. Please plan to attend the entire program. (This retreat is not recommended for people in the midst of crisis or dealing with trauma issues.) REGISTRATION AND DEPOSIT: We request a $20 deposit to register for this retreat. If you cancel before April 29 your deposit will be returned. If you cancel after April 29, your deposit will not be returned.
