Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP) Training Course
This course will provide participants with foundational knowledge regarding how to implement the requirements of the “FSVP” rule (“Foreign Supplier Verification Programs for Importers of Food for Humans and Animals”) published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Course materials include practical group exercises to help reinforce materials covered, and group discussion will be part of the course – so bring your questions! The FSVP regulation is one of seven regulations which are part of the 2011 Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), all of which are intended to reinforce safe food practices throughout the supply chain for foods sold in the United States. The course is taught by FSPCA Lead Instructors for the Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP) course. The official FSPCA curriculum is used. The FSVP regulation does not mandate attending this course, but it is very strongly encouraged. Who Should Attend? Importers of food in the U.S. who meet the definition of “importer” in the FSVP rule. Others who have an interest in ensuring that the requirements of the FSVP rule are met, including: brokers, exporters, foreign suppliers of food that will be exported to the U.S., persons/business owners who currently buy food from foreign sources, and representatives of foreign governments.
